On July 29, 2023, 17-year-old Magnus White — a member of the USA Cycling National Team preparing to leave for the world championships in Scotland — was struck and killed by a vehicle while training on his bike along Highway 119 near Boulder. Investigators later found evidence that the driver of the car had been drinking and taking prescription medication in the hours before the crash.
